Let’s assume for a moment that American democracy
isn’t beyond hope.
It’s always funny how people who have hypocritical
tendencies choose to name themselves or other people. There always seems
to be an element of self-reflection, and therefore awareness of the
underlying competing ironies.
There also seems to be a point of
amusement in noting that the institutional structure of the United
States democracy knew Trump was a hack and a threat at the beginning of
his first term (see also: press coverage and any of the subsequent
lawsuits), but never seemed to have the evidential standing to take him
down.
So, Robert Mueller had a go, and, despite a damning
report that exposed links to Russia, nothing against trump specifically
could be proved, although some of his lackeys … lacked.
Then Stormy Daniels tried to appeal to the morals
of the Republican party. IN a somewhat interesting way by revealing
herself to be a prostitute and ‘exposing’ Trump as … exactly the kind of
person we knew he was anyway. Which … in hindsight, makes relatively
clear sense why it also failed. But in theory at least that should have
been enough to introduce doubt into the narratives relating to Trump’s
fitness to lead the Republican party.

There will be more detail than my coverage here – but the summary of the
thing is; Trump kept classified documents (some of which not even meant
out of the room they were originally disclosed in) in his resort, in
plain view of guests, and disclosed the information in these documents
to people on multiple occasions. The charges include counts of Wilful
Retention of Defense Information, Conspiracy to Obstruct Justice,
Withholding a document or record, corruptly concealing a document or
record, concealing a document in a federal investigation, scheme to
conceal, false statements and representation. These are the actual
charge names.
So, the indictments for Trump are now circling –
not helped by the release of his tax records – which point towards
certain methods of tax … avoidance. So not illegal as such, but where
there’s smoke. And, again, a return to discussing irony. Specifically,
Hillary Clinton. Trump’s opposition to Clinton seems interesting given
that the Clinton family has significant exposure to infidelity scandals,
and previous media coverage suggesting they were potentially corrupt.
Seems Trump may need to look at the psychological concept of Projection.
Or therapy in general, but that’ll never happen.
But more so even is the confidence in this case –
Trump moved the files between multiple locations in the resort, and to
multiple locations, and denied that any documents were retained while
all he had done was move them somewhere new. There were more than 100
boxes, so this could not have been done mistakenly, and was also
seemingly, not done very well – further risking the exposure of the
information to unwanted parties.
So, anyway. I have no desire to reproduce the indictment in part or full. Or anything else to add to previously stated viewpoints on this blog. It looks like he’s guilty of everything he’s accused anyone else of being. And that some of the charges carry 20 years in prison. So, I guess he’s had a good free life so far. I guess, at this stage, we can return to Trump’s 2016 campaign – lock him up.
